how do i shot blog
Why is it so difficult to keep blogging?
It seems like the worth of rambling upon a given topic is too low at most times, and not worth the effort. However, I’m sure blogging provides and requires momentum, thus, it’s time for a new post.
So I’ll be heading to Japan early next year, that should be interesting. There will probably be lots of neat (crazy?) stuff to blog about… it seems like quite a unique place. I’m excited to see the level of tech around, it seems so high, and so much further ahead for mobile computing devices.
It’s interesting to think that Japan after WW2 was in the sort of position that China is in now, being a source of cheap labour for other countries. After seeing how Japan has progressed to now, I wonder where China will be in the next 50 years. A country the size of China, with a rate of advancement like that of modern Japan would be pretty enormous in the scale of things. Huge amounts of awesome research and technology progress, moving us humans towards redundancy much faster. Fun times!
The Japanese language is fun to learn. It’s grammar is fairly simple on a basic level, and pronunciation is fairly straightforward. I stumbled across a site I hadn’t seen in a long time, it’s a nice resource for learning some basic grammar. Check it out here. The tricky part is learning all the Kanji — at least 2000 to learn, with multiple pronunciations and readings, just to read a newspaper. There are many many more in total, but a typical adult working knowledge would be around 5000 or so. I wonder how much having to learn such a system affects the education of children (or rather, their ability to memorize alot of information).
In any case, I basically have to learn to read Kanji in 20 days, because the new Final Fantasy: Tactics game is coming out, and not playing is not an option. It makes me nostalgic to think about playing the original on playstation. Such a well-made game, so much fun to play. The battles start to get rather long though, but it’s definitely a perfect game for the DS. The latest clone that I’ve played was fairly poor, the art style on DS is important, and the bold, cartoony style is very clear in FF. Attempts to go for more realistic, earthy colors seem to create something that is far less clearly defined and visible and it becomes difficult to simply identify things, which brings me to…
Team Fortress 2. It’s a lot of fun. The game isn’t even out of beta yet and it’s so very polished and clean and stable, yum. Steam integrates nicely with TF2, but I’ve found that whilst it has been made very easy to join a game with your friends, it seems difficult to actually play cooperatively with them. Instead, you are sort of forced to play cooperatively with your whole team, just playing your class’s role to its best use. Perhaps if you get a whole team of friends it would be different.
I’m bored of typing now.
